For me dancing is an emotional exhaust valve and music a medicine. The music I listen to is often influenced by my mood or brings back memories from different parts of my life journey until now. I have a very wide taste of music. As an oriental dancer or more common known ‘belly dancer’ ofcourse Arabic music has a special place in my heart.

My parents told me that even as a baby I was dancing in the womb. I was small and active, but especially when music was played. Without music I was much calmer, it was an obvious difference. As a little kid I always danced and sang but no classes in both, only keyboard and djembe classes. I participated in a playback show and sang on a fair, my fathers birthday and some other small opportunities to dance or sing. The singing also stayed a part of my life and always will be.

In 2005 I went my first time to Egypt with my parents because of my love for the history. I am very attracted to Egypt and cobra’s/snakes. In Egypt I followed some bellydance classes at the swimming pool and the participated in the general dances in the hotel. The bellydance teacher and animation team we’re very fond of me. When being in Egypt I felt like home, as a deep spiritual person I believe in previous lives and the travelling of the soul. Two of my favorite sayings are ‘music is the language of the soul’ and ‘music is a common language’. At the end of our travel in Egypt my parents bought me a scarab necklace which I still wear daily and a hip scarf which I still use. Later on I choose Egypt as a topic for some of my tattoo’s. In the years after my travel to Egypt, I kept on dancing and singing for fun and followed some classes in different dance styles spread in the time but not continuously.
